To ensure that personnel receive initial training and familiarised with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform HERTL role safely and effectively.

- Helideck Emergency Response Team awareness of roles, responsibilities and emergency response duties;
- Roles/responsibilities of HLO and HDA offshore;
- Pre-planning arrangements for the event of emergency;
- Safety and emergency equipment set up, location and volumes;
- Why onshore training is required along with emergency drills at workplace offshore;
- Emergency response scenarios;
- Interaction between HLO and Helideck Emergency Response Team;
- Communications;
- Human factors and emergency response;
- Practical firefighting and rescue activities
